Born in Glasgow, started Traditional Shotokan late at age of 26, 1991, Crosshall UKTKF (John Errington, Masao Kawasoe)

Passed 1st Dan in Feb 1996, under Masao Kawasoe & Sensei Shirai

Have also trained with Kase, Shirai, Nishiyama, Higoanna across Europe
(& was lucky enough to go and train with Kanazawa in Japan, at his World Honbu dojo, after passing Shodan)



Did do some competitions up to 1997... here is where I was placed:

1992 York Shotokan Ch-ships to 4th kyu - 3rd

1993 UKTKF Sen Ch-ships to 4th kyu - 2nd

1994 UKTKF Sen Ch-ships Brown Belt - 2nd

1997 UKTKF Sen Ch-ships Dan Grade - 3rd

Moved to the Midlands and spent a long time trying to find a good Shotokan Sensei.
My previous instructor fortunately passed me the details of Slater, who had been running a club nearby all the time!

Enjoying training with Slater because of the clear parallels with Sensei Kase's very effective karate.
My objective is...to keep training and developing my karate!
